Hello all,
My father-in-law has used CAD. The premise of CAD is that your insulin
levels do not level off as they should between meals. So you go from
high to high if you eat carb laden meals.
The plan is low carb for 2 of the 3 meals in the day. The "freebie"
meal is a "normal" meal, not a pigout. You still don't eat a whole bar
of chocolate for dessert.
During the day, your 2 normal meals will allow your insulin level to
drop normally and then you can eat your 3rd higher insulin meal and your
body can deal with the insulin properly.
This is not the best description of the plan, but I hope it covers the
high points.
In the book, there is a "test" to determine if this eating plan will
help you. I took the test and it did not fit me very well.
I have used the Atkins plan for the most part over the last 2-3 years
and have lost 80 pounds. So keeping my insulin levels down all the day
is what works for me.
If you are interested in CAD, get the book and evaluate it and take
the test to see if that plan is a fit for you.
